The Nexstar 8 is undermounted. The Nexstar Evolution 8 is stronger and better suited for the extra weight the 8 inches OTA brings. The weight difference between the 6 and the 8 is not huge. But on the plain Nexstar tripod, it shows! A Nexstar Evolution is a nice piece of equipment you will enjoy. Ben.
I have the Evo Mfg 2.5" Overland Stage 1 kit on my Sport w/ Max Tow. Fellow forum member @Renegade has the Daystar 2" kit.
