Every Battlefield prior to Bad Company had bots. It was a great way to learn the maps, get used to the mechanics, practice, play when you don't want to/or can't go online, etc etc. It has been one of the the worst things, I believe, to have been removed from modern Battlefields. yes its still alive but vietnam dlc barely but the bad company 2 multiplayer is still alive on steam. All you have to do is create a password protected server on portal. The internet is probably needed to run the large amount of bots because of their new complex abilities or whatever. So it'll feel like you're offline if you just create your own server. Pretty sure the ai for the bots aren’t available on the client.
